The World Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine (WJTCM) was founded in 2015, WJTCM is a peer-reviewed and open access English journal which under the supervision of the Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicines and sponsored by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS). It is also the official journal of the Good Practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine (GP-TCM). Until now, the WJTCM has been included in the databases such as ESCI, Scopus, DOAJ, CSCD, Chemical Abstracts (CA), Ovid, Scimago Journal Ranking, Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar, CNKI, Wanfang, EBSCO Publishing’s Electronic Database, Exlibris Primo Central, Hinari, Infotrieve, Netherlands ISSN center, ProQuest, TdNet, and has been included in the Chinese Science and Technology Core Journal Catalogue for six consecutive years.

On June 28, 2023, Claricvate released the Journal Citation Report (JCR), which stated that all scientific core collection journals have received a journal impact factor. As a journal indexed by ESCI, WJTCM received its first impact factor score of 4.4 points.

 

  1. Introductions to editorial board members

The chief and associate editors of WJTCM are international academic leaders, serving as the chief and associate editors of well-known SCI indexed journals. Editors-in-chief are Prof. De-An Guo of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Jing-Yan Han of Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Peking University Health Science Center. Associate editors-in-chief include Professor Rudolf Bauer of Graz University in Austria, Professor Thomas Efferth of Mainz University in Germany, Professor Zhao-Xiang Bian of Hong Kong University, Professor Xiang-Hong Jing of the acupuncture and moxibustion Institute of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Jian-Ping Liu of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Jian-Gang Shen of Hong Kong University, and Professor Qi-He Xu of King’s University in London. At present, there are 83 editorial board members and 76 young editorial team members. Four key branches of disciplines are covered: modern research on Chinese materia medica, TCM basic theory, TCM clinical study and acupuncture & moxibustion.

  1. Columns of WJTCM

WJTCM is a peer-reviewed open access journal dedicated to reporting the research progress in clinical efficacy and action mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese materia medica, acupuncture and moxibustion to doctors and biomedical researchers around the world to provide new thoughts and methods for solving complex diseases and knotty diseases. The columns and main contents are as follows: 1) Modern research on Chinese materia medica: theories of processing Chinese materia medica, theories of medicine property and compatibility, the safety of Chinese materia medica, TCM and compound pharmacology, material basis and mechanism of medicine effects; 2) Research on TCM basic theory: scientific connotation and biological foundation of TCM basic theory; 3) TCM clinical study: disease and syndrome, the safety of TCM, curative effect evaluation, evidence-based and system evaluation; 4) Acupuncture & moxibustion: effect mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion, specificity of acupoint effect, acupoints compatibility, efficacy evaluation of acupuncture and moxibustion.
